Two-Day Shearing Clinic with Russell Gent
It's shearing time! Tierra del Cielo Alpaca Ranch is proud to host  New Zealand shearer Russell Gent for an intensive, hands-on, two-day shearing clinic on May 12^th and 13^th, 2007 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and 8:00 am to 5.00 pm on Sunday. The clinic will be held at Tierra del Cielo Alpaca Ranch, located 20 minutes east of DIA near I-70. (Directions and a map will be sent to all participants).

The two-day shearing clinic will cover:
          Alpaca behavior related to shearing
          Lowering stress for you and your alpaca
          Why using a spacer benefits your alpaca
          Preparing and sharpening shearing equipment
          Grooming your alpaca for shearing
           Shearing blows for alpacas
           Hands-on shearing instruction
           Shearing and skirting show fleeces
          Trimming nails and teeth

Electric shears and Totara Grove Alpaca Shearing Tables will be available for clinic use.
Bring any shearing equipment that you have.
Each participant should bring at least one alpaca, which you will shear during the clinic. One additional alpaca may be shorn if time provides. We suggest that you bring alpacas with lesser quality fleece to practice your shearing technique. Our ranch is BVD free. To ensure the heath of our herd and visiting alpacas, your alpacas must have proof of a negative PCR test or VI test for BVD. If you need information on BVD testing
